What Is an Electrical Substation?
Electricity isn't delivered straight from the power station to your home. A process is needed to lower the voltage supplied from power stations to a safer, lower voltage which can be delivered to homes and businesses. It is the job of an electrical substation to present this task. The substation also manages the network to ensure it is working optimally and fault free.
What is creating in a Substation? The main section of a substation is a power transformer. The transformer is a device which is used to decrease or increase the voltage of the power fed to it. Switchgear is a key aspect of a substation to control and guard circuits, as well as raising the trustworthiness of the electrical supply, plummeting fault currents.

Circuit breakers are included to cut the power supply in case of a problem. When the circuit is disconnected, the circuit breaker pulls separately the contacts. A number of different property types can trigger this opening including oil, gas, vacuum and air.
  • Oil relies on vaporization of oil to inject a shot of oil through the arc
  • Vacuum circuit breakers are frequently used in medium voltage switchgear as they have minimum arching
  • Gas quench the arc using the power of the attractive ground
  • Air circuit breakers use compressed air to satisfy the arc
  • Whatever the material, circuit breakers can disconnect the circuit extremely quickly, from as little as 30ms.

The voltage of the electric current leaving a power station is 25,000 volts. The explanation of a substation is to boost or reduce the voltage depending on its location.

Huge Substations
To send the power across long distances a large substation increases the voltage for such a journey. High voltage currents leave a system substation on high overhead lines carrying insulators to ensure that the current doesn't travel to the ground.

Small Substations
In the country smaller substations are present to lower voltage to 33,000 volts. In more build up areas substations lower the voltage much more, between 11,000 and 33,000 volts. These substations directly deliver factories, hospitals and the rail network for pattern.

Extremity mounted transformers also live to lower the voltage to 230 volts, a secure voltage which can be delivered to homes. 11kv Cable End termination and Jointing
An electrical current may pass throughout several substations on the way to its goal.

RPSPL are an electrical substation support supplier in the supply, installation, erecting, cabling, testing, commissioning, switching and safeguarding of transformer and switchgear substations, Operation and Maintenance of 66KV Substation
. RPSPL also provide high voltage cable jointing services.

Cable Fault Location and Rectification

To fulfil our motto of becoming total service provider, we are offering the services of underground cable fault location of EHV/MV/HV/LV networks. We are equipped with the state of the art SebaKMT Germany Make Surgeflex 32 Cable Fault Locating System with surge wave receiver (Digiphone) and Time Domain Reflectometer (TDR) which enable us to provide the complete solution for maintaining the underground cable systems.

The system allows the pre-location of high resistance faults as well as Conditioning of faults - if necessary - is possible by short-term burning in all voltage levels. Low resistance faults can be located with only the use of TDR without having to use the high voltage methods. This help in preventing the cable deterioration due to repeated application of high voltage surges during the cable fault location.
The use of directional acoustic listening device for the pinpointing of flash-over faults on power cables enables to precisely locate cable faults in conjunction with a surge generator (thumper). The advantage of this instrument is that it is not dependent on the strength of the signals, even if the cables are in ducts.

Above set of instruments and systems allows us to cater to all scenarios of cable fault and pin point fault location for the widest range of faults.
At RPSPL we offer a comprehensive solution, round the clock, combined with testing, fault locating and physical rectification of the underground cable faults including supply of cable jointing/ termination kits. We have an in house team of the certified jointers for making the cable joints up to 66KV Transmission Line work, 66KV voltage level.

This enable our clients to achieve the quick restoration of power supply without investing heavily in procuring the cable fault location systems as well as maintaining inventory of Cable Repair Materials such as jointing kits, termination kits and so on and reduces Manpower burden from their operations.

We have a Team of Competent Engineers who are trained for the above work and are well experienced in the cable fault location and rectification of EHV/MV/HV/LV cables. Our clients include the state utilities like UGVCL, PGVCL, DGVCL, private utilities like Torrent Power, GIFT City, Gujarat State Power Corporation Ltd. and industrial customers.

Replacement/ Retrofitting of Transformers and Switch Gears
Considering the ever expanding nature of power distribution networks and the dynamic loading conditions, it is constantly required to modify/augment/upgrade/enhance capacity of the transmission and distribution networks for their efficient operation.

We provide the transformer replacement and switch gear retrofitting/ replacement services. Our clients include UGVCL, Torrent Power Ltd. etc. We also provide the services in emergency situations like transformer failure.

Cable Laying and Jointing
We are offering the EHV/MV/HV/LV cable laying and jointing services to all the major power utilities based in Gujarat and other clients. HV Cable Laying Work

Substation Maintenance and Up Keeping
The services offered are maintenance, cleaning and up keeping of distribution substations, reporting the abnormalities observed in functioning of transformers/ switch gears, loading readings of transformers. This is essential for round the clock accessibility to the scattered and unmanned distribution substation by the utility staff and monitoring the loading of the distribution transformers.
